I recorded these songs 4-10 days after composition to achieve a spontaneity, and freshness in the performances. Acoustic guitars, open tunings, Hawaiian legends, adventures in the garden and the pure belief that a sole melody can carry a tune.... were the modus operandi of my muse.

The other stars of this record are the wonderful acoustic guitars that I borrowed from friends. They both inspired me in my composing as well as the recorded performances. I coaxed sounds out of these instruments that I hadn't done before.

Mele Kai- Recorded on 12/14/17. Tuning CGEGCE.
Besides my '97 Taylor 410, I played a wonderful '98 Taylor w/ a pickup and a cutaway. (borrowed from Susan Macgill) I also played a harmonium.

The Legend Of Kukona- Recorded on 3/17/18 and 3/20/18. Tuning DADDAD, Capo 1.
I played an Auburn Sunburst '12 Taylor, (courtesy of Ed Cusati) , my custom India Telecaster, and my '00 Ernie Ball StingRay5 Bass.

Perigee Syzygy- Recorded on 12/28/17.Tuning DADF#AD.
Played both my '97 Taylor and a '82 Guild G37BLD (courtesy of Mariano Rodriguez)

Sippin'- Recorded 2/3/18. Tuning EAC#EAE.
Played a Yamaha 12 String (courtesy of Arthur Saladino), an '07 Larivee L-03 SP (borrowed from Mariano Rodriguez) and the aforementioned '12 Taylor.

Nounou- Recorded on 1/20/18. Tuning CGEGCE.
Performed this song with the Larivee (slide and rhythm) and the '12 Taylor.

Octopus Kneebender- Recorded on 2/13/18. Tuning EAC#EAE.
I played the Yamaha 12 string, the '12 Taylor, the India Tele, and the '00 StingRay5 Bass.

Naupaka- Recorded on 2/24/18, 3/2/18, 5/9/18 ( at The KooP) and 1/28/19. Tuning C#AC#G#AE.
I recorded with Yamaha 12 String, the '12 Taylor , the India Tele (verses/ chorus') and a Les Paul, (bridge melody and end guitarmy) as well as my '00 StingRay5 Bass.

Sempre Piano- Recorded on 4/18/18 and 7/30/18. Tuning CFCGAE.
I used the '12 Taylor and the Les Paul. (slide)
